2020 SSHRC Insight Grant – Online information session – July 21, 2020

The UofT Research Services Office will be holding an online information session for the 2020 SSHRC Insight Grant competition.
Topics covered will include a general overview of the SSHRC IG, the adjudication process and the elements of a strong proposal, budget considerations, and the application process and deadlines (both internal at UofT and external to SSHRC). This session will be held online, through Microsoft Teams.
There will be two presenters for this information session:
• Professor David Burnes, Associate Dean, Academic & Associate Professor, UofT Factor-Inwentash Faculty of of Social Work, SSHRC IG awardee, and 2019 SSHRC IG adjudication committee member
• Mark Bold, Social Sciences & Humanities Research Funding Officer, UofT Research Services Office (mark.bold@utoronto.ca)
Learning Objectives
After this session, attendees will have a better understanding of:
- the SSHRC adjudication process for Insight Grant applications
- tips for building a stronger proposal
- the internal application process at UofT (via MRA) and external to SSHRC, and the deadlines for both
- resources available to applicants
