February 2026 E-Learning Event, hosted by Community-Based Research Canada
Community-Based Research Canada presents “Raising Resilient Families: Empowering Parents with Cognitive Challenges Through Co-Production Practices”
In this E-Learning series, we highlight research that exemplifies a pivotal feature of community-based research: centering community and lived experience perspectives in all aspects of the research. This series will showcase projects that have been led by community members with lived experiences of the issues being investigated, and projects that have amplified the voices and experiences of those with lived experience throughout the research process.
February – Raising Resilient Families: Empowering Parents with Cognitive Challenges Through Co-Production Practices
In this event, we’ll have a conversation with the researchers and community members behind the Raising Resilient Families research project that developed supports for and with parents with cognitive challenges. Presenters will shed light on systemic factors that impact societal views of parenting capacity and family resilience, then share the co-production practices used in this project to develop innovations and practical strategies. Through this presentation, participants will have a chance to learn about co-production practices within this research that lead to evidence-informed approaches to support parents with cognitive challenges, including practical tools for fostering resilience and reducing stigma.
Presenters:
- Vicky Caruana, Founder and Executive Director, Starfish Parent Support Program:
- Maryann Cabral, Parent with Lived Experience
