Session Description

July 14 2026 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm

The Division of the Vice-President, Research & Innovation is hosting a webinar about strategies for writing a successful proposal for the upcoming Fall 2026 CIHR Project Grant competition for the University of Toronto Community.

The Project Grant program is designed to capture ideas with the greatest potential to advance health-related fundamental or applied knowledge, health research, health care, health systems, and/or health outcomes. It supports projects with a specific purpose and a defined endpoint. The best ideas may stem from new, incremental, innovative, and/or high-risk lines of inquiry or knowledge translation approaches.

This session will feature a faculty panel of University of Toronto researchers who have held Project Grant funds and/or participated on a Project Grant peer-review panel. Panelists will provide a window into the adjudication process and insider insights on crafting strong proposals. The session will also include a brief overview of the CIHR Project Grant application process and deadlines from the Research Services Office.

A Q&A period will follow.

Moderator:

  • Tania Watts, Professor Department of Immunology, Temerty Faculty of Medicine
