Join the Centre for Research & Innovation Support (CRIS) for a webinar that aims to equip researchers with essential knowledge and skills for using Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) to support their scholarly writing.  

This session will highlight how GenAI can support different stages of the scholarly writing process, from organizing ideas to generating and editing text. Participants will learn to craft effective prompts and will explore the application of GenAI for writing tasks through practical demonstrations using Microsoft Copilot. This session will address the limitations of GenAI tools and introduce practical strategies for verifying AI-generated outputs to ensure accuracy, integrity, and reliability in writing.

  • Faculty researchers and their teams from any discipline

No prior experience is needed to fully participate, however, a basic understanding of GenAI technology is encouraged. Please view the ‘Navigating GenAI: An Introduction for Researchers’ session recording before the workshop to be familiar with key concepts, challenges, and opportunities of GenAI in scholarly work.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:  

  • Use GenAI tools to support different stages of the writing process, including organizing ideas, generating text, and refining drafts 
  • Apply effective communication principles when working with GenAI systems for scholarly works 
  • Recognize the limitations of GenAI tools and apply strategies to verify AI-generated outputs
