Leveraging Digital Platforms to Support Research Impact – Feb. 18, 2022

Session Description

February 18, 2022 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm EST

Digital platforms can be powerful tools for conducting and disseminating research, but researchers often find it challenging to identify the appropriate platform and to learn the skills to use it effectively.

The Centre for Research Innovation & Support (CRIS) has a mandate to support faculty researchers to maximize the impact of their discoveries and insights, and to make their research available for the public. CRIS, in collaboration with Digital Learning Innovation, is therefore hosting an online session that will focus on ways to leverage various digital platforms to meet goals for community engagement and knowledge mobilization, or as part of research program activity.

In this session, faculty members and researchers from across U of T will share their knowledge on the use of various digital platforms and learning strategies including course content, MOOC platforms, shareable learning modules, and more, for the creation and dissemination of their research.

This session will be moderated by Steve Joordens, Professor of Psychology, UTSC and Director of the Advanced Learning Technologies Lab.

Panelists:

Cheryl Regehr - Professor of Social Work, Vice-President, and Provost

Dilip Soman - Canada Research Chair in Behavioural Science and Economics, Rotman School of Management

Ananya Banerjee - Assistant Professor Dalla Lana School of Public Health

Learning Objectives

By the end of the session, participants will better be able to:

1. Identify appropriate digital platforms for conducting and disseminating research

2. Articulate the potential benefits of digital platforms to enhance research impact

3. Recognize common challenges to using digital platforms for conducting and disseminating research

4. Access U of T staff and resources that can help researchers use digital platforms efficiently and effectively in their research and knowledge dissemination activities.
