Records of Early English Drama 50th Anniversary Colloquium – Applying REED to Reality: Pedagogy, Performance and Data Futures – Sept. 19-20, 2026

Session Description

The international humanities research project, Records of Early English Drama (REED), was founded in 1976 to discover, edit and publish historical records of English, Welsh and Scottish drama, secular music, dance and other forms of mimetic entertainment from the Middle Ages until the closure of public theatres in London in 1642. Our 50th Anniversary Colloquium will celebrate this landmark year with a two-day event featuring an international group of scholars and performance practitioners on 19-20 September 2026. The format of the Colloquium will be varied, with formal papers, interactive workshops and a culminating round table, looking at both the present and future contributions of REED to the interdisciplinary study of medieval and renaissance cultural history. Registration in advance is required but free for all interested, both online and in person.
