Research Ethics in the Social Sciences, Humanities, and Education Workshop Feb 4

February 4, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm EST

This workshop will include a presentation about research ethics in social sciences, humanities, and education, with opportunities for questions and discussion. Faculty members, graduate students, and staff are invited to attend.


Learning Objectives

  • Understand the history and principles behind research ethics review
  • Describe procedures under the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans
  • Explain UT’s risk matrix for assessing participant vulnerability and research risk
  • Understand free & informed consent, privacy & confidentiality, conflict of interest, inclusion/exclusion criteria
  • Discuss ethics issues related to specific projects and methods
