Session Description

This workshop will include a presentation about research ethics in social sciences, humanities, and education, with opportunities for questions and discussion. Faculty members, graduate students, and staff are invited to attend.

Learning Objectives

Understand the history and principles behind research ethics review
Describe procedures under the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans
Explain UT’s risk matrix for assessing participant vulnerability and research risk
Understand free & informed consent, privacy & confidentiality, conflict of interest, inclusion/exclusion criteria
Discuss ethics issues related to specific projects and methods
