The STAR events are specifically intended for U of T staff administering research, such as business officers, research administrator/facilitators, strategic research officers, finance-related staff, and faculty.
Learning Objectives
- Effectively apply procurement strategies and successfully follow processes, specifically the Open Competitive Procurement including when and how to apply RFP (Request for Proposal), RFQ (Request for Quote), RFSQ (Request for Supplier Qualification), and RFI (Request for Information) methods
- Recall the phases, roles, and compliance requirements involved in initiating and managing procurement processes for research related purchases
- Understand and comply with current procurement legislation and regulations such as the BOBIA (Building Ontario Business Initiative Act), the Procurement Restriction Policy, and the ACAN (Advance Contract Award Notice)
- Find and use essential procurement tools and resources, such as templates, U of T supplier network, and customs broker to streamline procurement activities and make informed decisions in their day-to-day roles.
