Tri-Agency Grants Management Solution Initiative – Applicants

Session Description

January 27, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm EST

The three Canadian granting agencies – the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) and Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) – are collaborating on a Tri-Agency initiative to improve the grants management systems, with an aim to better support the needs of the Canadian research community.

Over the past several months, through interviews and workshops, the Tri-Agency Grants Management Solution (TGMS) team has engaged the research community’s primary users to develop journey maps to represent users in the roles of applicants, reviewers, and research administrators. Journey maps are a visualization of the process that a user goes through in order to accomplish a goal and depicts their common tasks, pain points and needs.

The University of Toronto will be joined by Tri-Agency staff in hosting a Client Experience (CX) journey mapping validation session workshop aimed at primary users of the Tri-Agency grants management systems. The objective of the workshop is to enhance and deepen the content of the journey maps by engaging a larger group of users. The insights learned from these engagements in terms of the needs and wants of users will help inform the design of the user experience in a new solution.

Note: This session is aimed at applicants who use the existing Tri-Agency grant management systems.
