What is a Data Management Plan and Why Do I Need One? – Apr. 9, 2026

This workshop is intended to provide a basic overview of Data Management Plans (DMPs), a tool often used to lay a foundation for good research data management practices through the life of a research project and beyond. This workshop will cover a basic overview of the components of a typical data management plan and share resources available to support researchers and their teams to get started.
DMPs are currently required at the time of submission for some Tri-Agency opportunities.

- Describe why managing research data is important
- Identify common elements often included in data management plans
- Locate resources and supports for developing a DMP
