Session Description
June 22, 2023 @ 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm
Join us for the next workshop in the “Learning Together: Applying Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Concepts in Research Ethics Review,” a monthly series bringing together experts from across the tri-campus on a range of research ethics topics from equity, diversity, and inclusion through a TCPS2 lens.
In the first half of this session, guest speaker Dr. Sonia Kang will explore:
Self-disclosure of demographic characteristics (e.g., race, Indigenous identity, disability status, sex, and gender) in the context of research ethics and through the lens of Social Identity Theory.
Respondents’ preferences, feelings, and perceptions around demographic group labels and the disclosure process in general.
Potential best practices (tools and methods) for the collection of demographic self-disclosure data.
Following the presentation, session participants will explore a featured case study in small groups before closing with final reflections.
