Session Description

March 1, 2023 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

“Crafting Legacy: Arts, Wellness, andIntergenerational Storytelling” with Professor Andrea Charise

In this talk, I offer acritically-informed exploration of the emergence of health-related digitalstorytelling practices, with a particular focus on their applications to agingand the intergenerational context. Starting with a historically-attuned summaryof current scholarship in intergenerational storytelling, I turn to a recentexemplar: the Toronto-based, community-engaged digital initiative TheResemblage Project (www.resemblageproject.ca).

The aim of this discussion is to offer 1) an overview of theoretical and practical considerations for intergenerational storytelling in the digital realm, and 2) a critical analysis of the conceptual, ethical, and social justice concerns related to its current and future practice.
