Introduction to Allen Institute for Cell Science – Jun. 7, 2021

Session Description

July 6, 2021 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

This session will be divided into 2-parts.

  • The first part is an overview of the Allen Institute for Cell Science. The mission of the Allen Institute for Cell Science is to create multi-scale visual models of cell organization, dynamics and activities with a focus on live 3D imaging to understand and predict cellular behavior. In this presentation, you will learn about the unique approaches and tools they have developed and their application for discovery research.
  • The second part will provide information on the Allen Tool Kit. The Allen Cell Toolkit is a suite of tools developed by the Institute that is shared with the research community to study the cell and its components as an integrated system. This includes the gene-edited Allen Cell Collection, image processing tools to extract information from live 3D images, and associated resources for visualization and analysis of 3D images.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the session, participants will have:

  • A good understanding of the types of work that Allen Institute does in the field of stem cell, imaging, and holistic models that have been developed at the Institute.
  • The available resources from the Institute, including the Allen Tool Kit that covers gene edited lines, image processing tools, visualizer, and more.
  • Various ways in which our researchers can collaborate with Allen Institute.
