Sage Resources for Using Data in Research and Instruction

  • What: Sage Research Methods offers an extensive collection of materials to guide researchers at every step of their journey. Access case studies, instructional videos, expert interviews, eBooks, podcasts, and practice dataset designed to deepen understanding and application of research methods across disciplines.

    Sage Data saves time and effort by providing a single platform to quickly find, explore, visualize, and share detailed data from the most trusted source providers. With its multidisciplinary and global scope, it can be used to inform class research projects and more thorough independent research. With content sourced from 90+ public and private providers, Sage Data equips users with intuitive tools to help them visualize, export, and compare disparate datasets.

  • Why: Sage Data saves time and effort by providing a single platform to quickly find, explore, visualize, and share detailed data from the most trusted source providers. With its multidisciplinary and global scope, it can be used to inform class research projects and more thorough independent research. By combining Sage Data’s vast statistical resources with the instructional materials in Sage Research Methods, real-world data can be seamlessly integrated with methodology training exercises, creating stimulating projects and lesson plans.

  • Software: Sage Data and Sage Research Methods can be accessed using any browser when you log in with your UTORid.

  • Who: This workshop is for Postdocs, Librarians, and Faculty who answer “Yes” to any of the following questions:

  • Are you frequently on the lookout for more data but unsure where to find it?

  • Do you struggle with understanding your options when exporting data from a repository?

  • Is increasing data literacy skills a goal you have set for yourself?

  • Are you looking to increase data literacy skills in your cirriculum?

In this session, we will provide in-depth instruction on how Sage Data and Sage Research Methods support researchers and Instructors at all levels in working with data .

  • How: This is a 1.5 hour online workshop, consisting of a guided demonstration of the resource and potential use cases, which you can follow along with or just watch. There are no breaks.
