
University of Toronto Consultation: Draft, Tri-Agency Open Access Policy on Publications – Mar. 26, 2025

The Division of theVice-President, Research & Innovation is encouraging researchers at theUniversity of Toronto to provide their feedback on Canada's federal grantingagencies draft, revisedTri-Agency Open Access (OA) Policy on Publications ("OA Policy").
Canada's federal researchgranting agencies — the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), theNatural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), and theSocial Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) ("the Agencies")— have released a draft, revisedTri-Agency Open Access (OA) Policy on Publications ("OA Policy") for publicfeedback.
The objective of thispolicy is to ensure that all agency-funded, peer-reviewed research articles areimmediately and freely available online to the research community, readers inthe public, private and not-for-profit sectors, and the general public. Thispolicy applies to all grants and chairholder awards awarded on or after January1, 2026. The Agencies are invitingfeedback on the draft, revised OA Policy through an online form until March31, 2025.
The Division of theVice-President, Research & Innovation is hosting an online consultationsession on March 26, 2025, 3:00-4:00pm to help inform our institutionalresponse to the draft Policy. Comment can also be sent to vp.research@utoronto.ca.
