Community Engagement Series – Meaningful Community Engagement: An Introduction to Best Practices

The Leong Centre is excited to announce the launch of the “Community Engagement Series”, which is a new initiative featuring dynamic speakers and engagement sessions to provide opportunities to connect about innovative community-engaged research projects and methods. The series will be moderated by their Knowledge Mobilization and Community Engagement Specialist, Dr. Priscilla Medeiros.
The first session titled “Let’s Talk: Putting Community in Community-Engaged Research” will take place on September 30th at 3-4pm. You are invited to join us, including our guest Dr. Catherine Birken, Leong Chair in Child Health Intervention and co-lead of TARGet Kids!, for a conversation around defining ‘community’ in community-engaged research.
Dr. Naomi Thulien, a nurse practitioner and scientist with the MAP Centre for Urban Health Solutions in the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St. Michael’s Hospital, is the second speaker in the series. Her presentation titled “Meaningful Community Engagement: An Introduction to Best Practices” will explore best practices for responsible community engagement and take place on October 20th at 10-11am
