Session Description

March 12 2026 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

As part of its Research Information Security Program (RISP), IT@UofT is hosting monthly "Cyber Security and Your Research(ers) Office Hours” sessions for researchers and research support staff to ask questions about and gain deeper insight into safeguarding their research, as well as learn about new and existing initiatives, resources, and supports available to secure their research.

Each session will open with a brief presentation (5 – 10 mins.) on a cyber security topic or resource, followed by time for researchers and support staff to ask questions about and/or discuss opportunities and avenues for securing their research data. 

Presentation Topic: Research data spring cleaning: what to keep, what to lock down, what to delete

Session Format: Virtual (Microsoft Teams)

  • Michael Laurentius, Research Information Security Specialist, Information Security 

Who should attend?  

  • While these sessions are open to everyone, topics will be most relevant to U of T researchers and research support staff.

Learning Objectives

  • Discuss common cybersecurity threats to researchers and their research and practical strategies for risk mitigation

The Research Information Security Program (RISP), acts as a bridge between research needs and cyber security requirements. By providing assistance and services directly to researchers, RISP aims to reduce the research administrative burden while improving overall competitiveness.
