The Fall Data Forum on October 19, 2022, is a day-long forum that focuses on helping researchers who work with certain datasets to expand their knowledge base and skill sets.

An afternoon panel of international experts on data governance from the UK, US and Canada, who will discuss ways in which we can democratise access to data while maintaining its confidentiality will also be hosted.

Agenda at-a-glance:

Training on datasets like the Focus on the Longitudinal and International Survey of Adults, Census Data and Health Data linkages, business data, and Social Data Linkage Environment (SDLE).

Special sessions include Minimizing Bias from the Statistics Canada Questionnaire Design Resource Centre and a session on First Nations Information Governance Centre (FNIGC) Data Holdings by FNIGC.

The International panel features: Deborah Yates, a data governance and data assurance expert from the UK, who is a consultant for corporations and governments worldwide; Dr. Tracie Afifi from the Max Rady College of Medicine, Community Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba, and Tier 1 Canada Research Chair; and Dr. Jeanne Holm from the City of Los Angeles in the US, and former White House Data.gov, NASA and UN consultant. This session will be moderated by Dr. Michelle Gauthier, Special Advisor to the Executive Director of the Canadian Research Data Centre Network.
