Historical Research Using Government Information
Session Description
February 5, 2020 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm
Primary sources are especially important for historians as they provide first-hand evidence for historical events and issues. Government information, which can span over decades if not centuries, offers primary and often detailed evidence on almost every topic in history. For example, you can find different perspectives of world events from documents issued by different national governments. You can trace the evolution of the Canadian health care system, examine the fall of the Berlin Wall and many other historical topics through government information.
Location: Map & Data Library (Robarts Library 5th floor, Room 5-053)
Open to University of Toronto students, faculty, and staff.
This workshop is part of the Grey Literature Research Series. Other workshops in this series include:
- Parliamentary and legislative materials
