Horizon Europe: University of Toronto Information Session – Oct. 24, 2024
Session Description
October 24 2024 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
The Centre for Research & Innovation Support, in collaboration with Research Services Office, is hosting a webinar on the Horizon Europe program designed to raise awareness about this new funding opportunity and prepare U of T faculty to submit a Horizon Europe grant application.
Horizon Europe is the world’s largest research and innovation collaboration program, with a budget of C$140 billion (2021-2027). The program is structured in three pillars, and Canada has recently become an associated country for Pillar II: “Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness”. Canadians can now participate in or create international consortia to apply for project calls and receive grants directly from the European Commission. Although finding or establishing these consortia and developing the applications will take time and effort, the rewards for University of Toronto researchers will be considerable in terms of resources, scientific or innovation advancement, and global impact and recognition.
This information session will:
- Provide an overview of Horizon Europe challenges and opportunities,
- Share faculty expert insights on the Horizon Europe application and award management process,
- Explore strategies for finding partners and building international consortia, and
- Cover key administrative elements including how to navigate the relevant funding portal.
A question & answer period will follow.

- David Wolfe, Acting Associate Vice-President, International Partnerships
