Session Description

June 8, 2020 @ 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm EDT

Queer Research Lab: Monday, June 8th 2020, 1:30 – 4:30 pm

The goal of the Queer Research Lab is to work collectively on innovative research in the fields of sexual diversity for the purpose of contributing to and participating in ongoing LGBTQ2S+ initiatives. A primary objective of the Queer Research Lab is to help sustain the activists, artists, educators, and intellectuals involved in this work and to provide a space for them to meet, work, create, and organize.

Learning Objectives

The Queer Research Lab will be committed to:

• building on the already considerable strengths in interdisciplinary scholarship and pedagogy at SDS by giving structure and institutional space to meet, share scholarship and pedagogical practices, and organize events;
• attracting scholars, artists, and LGBTQ2S+ social justice leaders from across the country and around the world to conduct their work at the Bonham Centre and share it with our community;
• providing a space for scholars, artists, and social justice leaders to work collectively on their projects;
• providing its members with the opportunity to study a complex issue in sexual diversity and to imagine new approaches for scholarship;
• and encouraging mutual learning between scholars, activists, artists, and students that creates new models of scholarship and engagement.
