JHI Postgrad Professional Development Day – Sep. 07, 2022

Humanities and Social Sciences grad students, are you looking ahead to post-dissertation life? Interested in hearing about some possible next steps?

Join the Jackman Humanities Institute on Wednesday September 7 for a special Professional Development Day. This full-day online (Zoom) workshop will feature sessions on applying for postdoctoral funding, applying for a full-time postdoctoral job posting, and how to look for and apply for postings outside of academia.

** Morning session, 10:00am-12:00pm: Applying for postdoctoral funding and positions
* with guests Seth Bernard (Associate Professor, Classics); Danielle Taschereau Mamers (Managing Director, CDHI); Jaclyn Rohel (JHI 
New Media Public Humanities Postdoctoral Fellow); Isabelle Gapp (SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellow, Art History)

** Afternoon session, 12:30pm-2:30pm: Alt-ac roundtable and tips on how to assemble your non-academic CV
* with a special presentation from Jennifer Polk (From PhD to Life), and a roundtable with guests Laura Godsoe (Director, Executive Recruitment and Employment Equity, Dalhousie University); Stephanie Fisher (Social Sciences Partnered Research Officer, Faculty of Arts & Science); Ira Wells (Academic Programs Director, Victoria College)
