MPH Indigenous Health Program Summer Ceremony – Jun. 29, 2022

The IRN will be holding an MPH Indigenous Health Program Summer Ceremony.

 

This summer ceremony is hosted on UofT’s Hart House Farm, organized by WBIIH and the IRN is open to all UofT faculty, staff and students.

Please plan to arrive between 11am-12pm. Dress accordingly to the weather and wear something comfortable for the day. Lunch and beverages will be provided.

For the sweat lodge – bring towels, women are preferred to wear a skirt and t shirt, men bathing suit. Bring separate dry clothes to change to afterwards. Bring water bottle. Clay, our Traditional Knowledge Keeper, will be bringing tobacco and the spirit food but please feel free to bring tobacco if you would like to offer.

Contact Joshua at jd.adams@utoronto.ca with questions. No prior experience in sweat lodge is necessary. If you do not have your own vehicle but would like to join, email Joshua as there are likely rideshare options available for people.

This is the summer ceremony hosted on the land at UofT’s beautiful Hart House Farms. Below are the directions to the farm, which is located about 60 minutes from Toronto near Caledon, Ontario.

 

Driving Directions to Hart House Farm, approximately 1 hour from Toronto:

From downtown Toronto take the Gardiner Expressway West to Highway 427

427 North to Highway 401 West

401 West to Highway 410 North

410 to Highway 10/Hurontario St (North)

Turn left onto Olde Base Line Road (Southwest; Coffee Bean Cafe & Grill restaurant marks the correct intersection)

Travel on Olde Base Line Rd for aproximately 4.5km to Creditview Rd.

Turn right onto Creditview Rd. (Note: Creditview is a dirt/loose gravel road)

Watch for the Hart House Farm sign on your right (approx. 1.7 km)

Farm is down the laneway (approx. 0.5 km). Address: 15911 Creditview Rd.
