Qualitative Data Analysis (NVivo)

Session Description

March 28 2025 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Please, check out other Fun Data Friday events.

  • What: Learn the basics of qualitative data analysis through a discussion and practice using NVivo.
  • Why: With data spread across so many different formats, finding connections can be extremely difficult and time consuming. NVivo software is designed to help researchers organize, code, and analyze qualitative and mixed methods research data.
  • Software: NVivo is a proprietary software, but students at the University of Toronto can get a license through the Map and Data Library.
  • Who: This workshop is designed for those new to working with qualitative data and are interested in learning about it. Participants from any discipline: Human Geography, Social Sciences, or Sciences are encouraged to participate. There are no prerequisites or assumptions of knowledge.
  • How: This is a 2 hour in-person workshop, consisting of a short lecture and then a series of demonstrations, which you can follow along with or just watch, interspersed with activities we will complete together and discuss. There are no breaks.
  • Where: This workshop will be held in The BRIDGE Data Lab (IC 108)
  • When: Friday, March 28, 3-5:00pm.
  • Code of Conduct: The Fun Data Friday workshops are a welcoming and inclusive environment for learning. To learn more, check out our Code of Conduct.
  • Accessibility: The UTSC Library is committed to making our workshops accessible to everyone. If you require accommodation to fully participate in the workshop, please contact David Kwasny (david.kwasny@utoronto.ca) to discuss options.
