Session Description

July 10 2024 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

The UTM Office of the VP Research and Innovation (OVPRI) and the Collaborative Digital Research Space (CDRS) are pleased to present a summer panel discussion on research creation.

What is research creation? How does research creation fit into SSHRC’s Insight Program? What research creation supports are available at the University of Toronto?

Faculty panelists Lilia Topouzova, Assistant Professor, UTM Institute of Communication, Culture, Information and Technology (ICCIT), and Julie MacArthur, Associate Professor, UTM Historical Studies, will discuss research creation in the context of their own practices.

Tia Sager, Senior Research Associate at CDRS, and Danielle Taschereau Mamers, Managing Director for the Critical Digital Humanities Initiative (CDHI), will describe research creation supports offered by CDRS and CDHI, respectively. Elizabeth Parke, Faculty Programming Development Officer at the Centre for Research & Innovation Support (CRIS), will speak to the faculty programming that supports research creation. Wei Ye, Research Funding Officer, Social Sciences & Humanities, Research Services Office, will answer questions specific to the SSHRC Insight Program.

This session will be of interest to U of T faculty and other U of T researchers in the fine arts, humanities, and social sciences who are developing research creation projects and may be considering submitting applications to the SSHRC Insight Grant or Insight Development Grant.
