University of Toronto facilitated Community Consultation: Refreshing Canada’s Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR) – Mar. 19, 2024

Session Description

March 19 2024 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm EDT

The Canadian Institute for Health Research (CIHR), along with SPOR partners, is leading a process to refresh Canada’s Strategy for Patient Oriented Research.

The Division of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation is inviting researchers at the University of Toronto to help shape the future directions of SPOR by participating in a University of Toronto facilitated Community Consultation on Tuesday March 19th from 11:00am to 12:00pm. Feedback from this virtual consultation will be collated and shared with CIHR.

In addition to the virtual community consultation, participants can submit additional feedback via the U of T hosted survey (closes March 19th, 2024).

Background

SPOR was first launched in 2011 “to embed people with lived and living experience into all stages of the research process, with the goal of increasing the relevance and impact of health research and improving health outcomes and the quality of health care systems”. SPOR is supported by CIHR through an annual $60 million dollar investment.

The objective of the SPOR Refresh process is to define a renewed approach for delivering Canada’s SPOR that builds on successes to date while reflecting evolving patient, community, partner, and health systems priorities.
