This force field analysis was developed by Kurt Lewin, and it helps to evaluate the pros and cons of a problem your group might be facing. In addition, this can also provide a way to identify if there are enough resources and support for a certain item to be performed.

Steps:

  • Have a brainstorming session with the members of your team on a specific topic. On the left side of the problem, brainstorm forces that support the topic. On the right side of the topic, identify forces that oppose it.
  • Now looking at both the columns, prioritize the factors in each group. For example, for each column, identify the most important forces that support or oppose the success of the project. This is an editing stage, so it can also include removing and revising the items within each column.
  • Last, you can then assign action for next steps. See the template to learn more!
