A critical component to running a facilitation is careful consideration of timing. It is important to end the session at the agreed-upon time, unless otherwise specified by the participants. Nearing the end of the discussion, the facilitator should summarize, or encourage the participants to summarize, the key points of the discussion and subsequent action items. This encourages a reflective process for those in attendance.

Time permitting, ask the participants to share their reflections of the session and what they are looking forward to in subsequent discussions. In a virtual context, encourage the participants to write one word in the chat to describe their perceptions of the session. After the session, provide the participants with meeting notes or transcriptions and a detailed report with action items.
