This event is hosted by Community-Based Research Canada.
Topic: Equitable Community Compensation
Community of practice meetings actively bring together CBRCanada members from across Canada and beyond to engage in meaningful discussions. All involved in community-based research are welcome, whether you are a researcher, peer-researcher, student, project coordinator, administrator, director, or community leader. The purpose of the community of practice is to network with others, learn from each other, and exchange best practices.
This session will share community practice knowledge with respect to fair, and ethical compensation practices that engage matters of honorarium, stipends, payments, and the like for research participants, those who contribute via lived experience and community contributors. A draft guide will be shared to convene these ideas and generate possibilities for collaborative knowledge sharing while attending to the contexts, systems and practices that continue to shape inequities in community-based research.
The group meets the second Friday of every other month. Meetings are one hour, informal, and participatory. Each month will have a short guest talk on a big theme or topic in community-based research and then launch into a break-out group and larger group discussion.
