Open Science: Following the Roadmap for Research

Series Description

During the month of November, the University of Toronto Libraries (UTL), in collaboration with the Centre for Research & Innovation Support (CRIS), will host a weekly series of virtual panel discussions to showcase diverse perspectives on the principles and practice of Open Science, representing voices from a variety of personal and professional backgrounds, disciplines, and affiliations.

The structure of the panel series will be guided by the 5 principles of open scholarship as outlined in the Roadmap for Open Science, published by the Government of Canada in February 2020. Each panel discussion will focus on one of the 5 principles:

1. Focus on People (Nov. 2, 2021)
2. Focus on Transparency (Nov. 9, 2021)
3. Focus on Inclusiveness (Nov. 16, 2021)
4. Focus on Collaboration (Nov. 23, 2021)
5. Focus on Sustainability (Nov. 30, 2021)

Series Objectives:

• Foster engagement and highlight innovative approaches for advancing open science across disciplines
• Provide a forum for critical discussion regarding the many benefits, opportunities, and challenges in the implementation of open science initiatives
• Feature tools, strategies and supports that researchers can employ to enhance their own practice of open science
• Promote the principles of people, collaboration, transparency, inclusiveness, and sustainability in making scientific information available to all

Target Audience: Open to all University of Toronto faculty, students and staff from all disciplines across the tri-campus.
