2022 UTM Annual Research Prize Symposium

The UTM Annual Research Prizes were established by the Office of the Vice-Principal, Research and UTM’s Research Council in 2016 to recognize outstanding contributions of early career researchers and scholars in the Humanities, Sciences and Social Sciences.

The recipients for the 2022 Annual Research Prizes at U of T Mississauga are the following:

UTM ANNUAL RESEARCH PRIZE IN THE SCIENCES
Professor Loren Martin from the Department of Psychology was selected for his outstanding contributions to understanding how painful experiences modify the neural circuits and transmitter/peptide systems related to sensory, emotional, social and cognitive information.

UTM ANNUAL RESEARCH PRIZE IN THE SOCIAL SCIENCES
Professor Alison Smith from the Department of Political Science was selected for her outstanding contributions to the study of Canadian politics, welfare state, social protection, homelessness, poverty and inequality.

UTM ANNUAL RESEARCH PRIZE IN THE HUMANITIES
Professor Daniel Wright from the Department of English & Drama was selected for his outstanding contributions to the study of the Victorian novel, gender and sexuality, and the intersections between literature and philosophy.
