Back to Facilitation Basics: Practical Strategies to Get You Started – Feb. 23, 2022

Session Description

February 23, 2022 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm EST

“The way we gather matters.” - Priya Parker
Picture this: you are in a 3-hr team brainstorming session, or a strategic research planning retreat, or maybe a consensus building workshop with your policy or practice stakeholders. When these sessions go well, you may feel energized and engaged and leave feeling motivated for the next steps. However, when these sessions do not go well, you may walk away feeling frustrated and disconnected. So how can you, as a facilitator, guide your group to more engaging collaborative conversations?
One of the key ingredients in facilitating an energizing collaborative session is good planning. If you have facilitated group conversations in the past, it might not surprise you to learn that 8+ hours of planning is required for every 1 hour of in-session facilitation! In this workshop, the CRIS Collaborative Programs Officer will go ‘back to the basics’ by sharing some practical strategies and tools to get you started as you plan your next collaborative engagement. We look forward to your participation, and learning from your experience, in this interactive workshop!
This session is a repeat of the January 12, 2022 Back to Basics Session.
