Research Connect is delighted to dedicate an inspiring webinar to “Community Hospital Research Capacity Building”. We are thrilled to have experts from Niagara Health, McMaster University and Hamilton Health Sciences to help gain a deeper understanding and explore future contributions. Dr. Jennifer Tsang, an adult critical care physician and the Physician Research Lead at Niagara Health; an Associated Professor in the Department of Medicine, McMaster University will be our guest speaker. Dr. Joanna Dionne an Assistant Professor, Divisions of Critical Care and Gastroenterology, in the Department of Medicine and the department of Health Research Methods, Evidence and Impact at McMaster University, will be supporting the webinar as a moderator and facilitate the Q&A.

Jennifer LY Tsang (she/her), MD, PhD, FRCPC, ABOM Diplomate
Dr. Jennifer Tsang (she/her), MD, PhD, FRCPC, ABOM; is an adult critical care physician and the Physician Research Lead at Niagara Health; an Associated Professor in the Department of Medicine, McMaster University; and the Regional Deputy Research Director, Internal Medicine Residency Program, McMaster University. Her academic work focuses on health research transformation in Canada by increasing research capacity in community hospitals across Canada. She co-founded the Niagara Health Critical Care Research Program in 2017 and the Canadian Community ICU Research Network in 2019. In 2023, she played a key role in establishing the Niagara Health Knowledge Institute.

Joanna Dionne BN MSc MD PhD FRCPC

Dr. Joanna Dionne MD MSc PhD is an Assistant Professor, Divisions of Critical Care and Gastroenterology, in the Department of Medicine and the department of Health Research Methods, Evidence and Impact at McMaster University. She is a clinician-scientist at the Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and associate member of the Farncombe Institute. Dr. Dionne has served as a guideline methodologist for multiple national and international guidelines including Canadian Blood Services, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, and the European Society for Intensive Care Medicine as part of the GUIDE Group on various topics including: the impact of alcohol in liver disease, stress ulcer prophylaxisin critically ill patients, transfusion guideline in bleeding in critically ill patients, transfusion guideline in non-bleeding critically ill patients..
