The Centre for Research & Innovation Support (CRIS) presents Demystifying the Scholarly Publishing Process, the next session in the CRIS-JHI Book Publishing Series. This session focuses on the process of turning a book proposal into a published scholarly book. Featuring acquiring editors from University of Toronto Press (UTP) and members of the UTP faculty manuscript review panel, the speakers will share their insider knowledge about navigating the scholarly publishing process. Practical advice will be offered around how and when to approach an editor; how to identify a suitable press, and how to navigate peer review reports.
Learning Objectives
At the end of the webinar participants will be able to:
- Summarize the stages of scholarly publishing from an editor and faculty’s perspectives
- Distinguish elements of the book proposal that editors are looking for to ensure a good fit with academic publishers
- Identify key moments in the scholarly writing process for connecting with acquiring editors
