Governance and Risk Management for Research – Mar. 4, 2022

Session Description

March 4, 2022 @ 10:30 am - 12:00 pm EST

As research becomes more collaborative and complex, its inherent uncertainties and organizational challenges can become more acute. Effective governance and risk management processes are therefore essential to anticipate and manage the challenges and ambiguities of research projects both large and small.

This webinar presents strategies, tools, and templates for effective governance and risk management for research projects, all of which can be applied using Microsoft Office software. Fictional examples, based on real projects, are used to show how the tools and strategies can be applied to a variety of research projects.

At the end of the session, participants will be able to:
•    Understand the difference between governance and management bodies
•    Match a governance and management structure/organogram to the size, scope and objectives of a research project or program
•    Create meeting agendas that support good decision making
•    Identify common research project risks and possible responses to them

Trainer
P. Alison Paprica, Assistant Professor, Institute for Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, Dalla Lana School of Public Health

This webinar is hosted by the Centre for Research and Innovation Support in partnership with the Collaborative Digital Research Space.
