In Conversation With…Visiting Topics in EDI in Research & Innovation is a series of discussions with experts at University of Toronto on how to embed best practices and strategic EDI approaches within the research and innovation ecosystem. Each session will be hosted by Dr. Nicole Kaniki, the inaugural Director of EDI in Research and Innovation, and she will be joined by guests from across the tri-campus for these conversations.

In Conversation: Indigenization and Decolonization in Research and Innovation
In this session Dr. Nicole Kaniki will have a conversation with Sandi Wemigwase, the Indigenous Research Special Projects Officer at the Indigenous Research Network at the University of Toronto. Sandi is a PhD candidate in Social Justice Education at U of T, and comes with extensive experience in Indigenous research and community support. They will discuss concepts of Indigenization and Decolonization from a research practice perspective and how researchers can implement considerations of these concepts, as well as the TRC Calls to Action in their research programs.
