Introduction to R Programming (In-person)
Session Description
February 4 2025 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
R is a powerful and flexible programming language widely used for data analysis, visualization, and statistical computing. This workshop offers a beginner-friendly introduction to R, helping you navigate its key features and capabilities. Whether you’re new to programming or looking to enhance your analytical skills, you’ll learn how to work with data, create visualizations, and manage datasets—equipping you with the tools to confidently tackle data-driven projects.
What to Expect:
- Getting Started with R: Learn how to install R and RStudio, set up your environment, and install essential packages.
- Understanding Data Basics: Explore R’s data types and structures, including vectors, data frames, and lists, to build a solid foundation.
- Data Management and Exploration: Import and export datasets, clean and manage data, create new variables, and explore data using summary statistics.
- Creating Visualizations: Generate simple graphs like bar plots, and histograms to visualize and communicate insights effectively.
Prerequisites: No prior knowledge of R is required. A basic understanding of statistics is helpful but not mandatory.
Who Should Attend: This workshop is ideal for individuals with little to no prior experience with R, including undergraduate and graduate students, early-career researchers, faculty/staff and anyone interested in developing analytical skills.
