Lunch and Learn: Strategies for Success with Royal Society of Canada (RSC) Nominations – Oct. 19, 2021

Session Description

October 19, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm EDT

This 90-minute workshop, hosted by the Division of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation, is designed to provide best practices for developing nominations for both RSC’s College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists, as well as their Fellows program.

The first half hour of the session will feature a presentation by an RSC representative who will overview each program and offer important tips. This presentation will be followed by an off-the-record panel discussion with two U of T faculty who are RSC members and have served on RSC’s internal selection committees. They will share strategies for crafting competitive nomination packages, insights into securing strong support letters to enhance chances of success, timing your nomination, tailoring nominations to align with selection committee preferences, and will field questions from virtual participants.

The RSC College is Canada’s first national system of multidisciplinary recognition for scholars within 15 years of their PhD who have demonstrated a high level of achievement. Fellows of the RSC are distinguished Canadians from all branches of learning who have made remarkable contributions in the arts, the humanities and the sciences, as well as in Canadian public life. The deadline for both programs is December 1, 2021.

  • Daniel Harney, Special Projects Officer, VPRI

Speakers:

  • Professor Cheryl Suzack, Department of English; Faculty of Law
