In today’s ever-changing geopolitical landscape, understanding evolving government policies and frameworks is crucial for successful grant applications. Join the Office of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation (OVPRI)’s Research Security Team (RST) for a webinar designed for faculty members and academic researchers for:
- Up-to-date information on the different research security government processes for grant applications
- A demonstration of tools and resources that can be used to better understand research security processes and improve applications
- Details for where and how the RST can assist pre- and post-award
A Q&A period will follow.

U of T staff members who administer research are invited to attend the STAR workshop, Security First: Safeguarding Research in Funding Applications (Part A, Online) - Oct. 2, 2025
Learning Objectives
After this session, attendees will:
- Better understand details and implications of Government of Canada’s policy on Sensitive Technology Research and Affiliations of Concern (STRAC), and National Security Guidelines for Research Partnerships (NSGRP)
- Be able to identify different funding requirements for key Tri-Agency funding, related programs, and Ontario-based grants
- Be able to better navigate through additional resources and supports related to research security including the self-assessment tool
