February 4, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm EST

This workshop will include a presentation about research ethics in the health sciences with opportunities for questions and discussion.Faculty members, graduate students, and staff are invited to attend.  

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the history and principles behind research ethics review
  • Describe procedures under the Tri-Council Policy Statement: Ethical Conduct for Research Involving Humans
  • Explain UT’s risk matrix for assessing participant vulnerability and research risk
  • Understand free & informed consent, privacy & confidentiality, conflict of interest, inclusion/exclusion criteria
  • Discuss ethics issues related to specific projects and methods
