Session Description

July 28, 2023 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am EDT

This is an image of five people having a discussion around a table with a whiteboard in the background.

This Proposal Development Workshop is designed to support researchers and divisional research support staff as they craft applications for the fall 2023 Partnership Development Grant (PDG) competition. The content will build on the “SSHRC Partnership Program – Models and Strategies for Success" faculty panel webinar held in Spring 2023 and provide information and tools that will help applicants as they finalize their partnerships and proposals.

In this webinar, faculty and staff will provide hands-on learning and advice about the review process and on specific sections of the PDG proposal.

Part 1:

  • Faculty advice on proposal evaluation from a former member of a SSHRC adjudication committee and a successful applicant (Professor Elspeth Brown).
  • RSO advice on composing a strong budget and partner letters (Mark Bold).

Part 2:

  • Strategies for preparing the written sections of the PDG application: Editorial and Proposal Development Officers will lead hands-on writing activities focused on specific sections of the grant.

Presenters:

  • Elspeth Brown, Associate Vice Principal Research & Professor, Department of Historical Studies, UTM
  • Mark Bold, Research Funding Manager, Social Sciences & Humanities, Research Services Office
  • Emma Doran, Editorial and Proposal Development Officer, Research Services Office
