Drawing Across the Disciplines: Comics and Graphic Scholarly Works Workshop

Session Description

May 5, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm EDT

This is a red session poster with the title, date, time and the Centre for Research and Innovation wordmark.

Join us for a limited-enrollment workshop of the new Centre for Research Innovation and Support (CRIS) series Drawing Across the Disciplines: Comics and Graphic Scholarly Works. This two-day workshop, co-hosted with Dr. Shelley Wall and in collaboration with the Biomedical Communication Program, will expand on the recent panel discussion. The workshop will pair faculty researchers with an artist to create a proof-of-concept illustration for research translation and mobilization.

In week one, May 5th 2023, faculty researchers and artists will begin their collaborative work towards creating a comic illustration of the research project. In session two, May 12th 2023, each team of faculty researchers and artists will present their proof-of-concept illustrations, showcasing the collaborative effort.

If you are interested in participating in the workshop, please register your interest in participating by Wednesday, April 19th 2023 by 5:00pm.

*** Please note, if you are accepted into the workshop, you will automatically be registered for the second part on May 12th from 10:00am to 12:00pm and sent a separate calendar invite.

We thank all applicants for their interest; however, in order to optimize the workshop’s impact, registration will be limited to 10 faculty researcher participants. Faculty with continuing appointments will be prioritized. If faculty researchers want to bring additional team members to the workshop, please note this in the application form. A waitlist will be enabled and all applicants will be notified of the results by email by April 25th 2023.
