
Drawing Across the Disciplines: Generating Images Workshop – May 9, 2025

Join us for the next workshop in the CRIS series Drawing Across the Disciplines presented in collaboration with Professor Nicolas Woolbridge and the Biomedical Communication Program.
As with past the Drawing Across the Discipline sessions, following the May 2nd webinar Drawing across the Disciplines: Generating Images, we offer a hands-on, limited enrolment workshop. The half-day workshop will focus on developing and refining two specific research outputs: Graphical Abstracts and Research Posters and provide participants with grounding in the concepts of elements and principles of design will be discussed to create eye-catching and informative visual elements that better communicate and support research outputs and findings. The workshop coordinators will provide individualized design coaching to all participants.
We thank all applicants for their interest; however, in order to optimize the workshop’s impact, registration will be limited to 12 faculty researcher participants. Faculty with continuing appointments will be prioritized. If faculty researchers want to bring additional team members to the workshop, please note this in your application form. A waitlist will be enabled and all applicants will be notified of the results by email by the end of April.

Learning Objectives
At the end of the workshop participants will:
- Identify best practices for communicating complex concepts using visual treatments
- Describe intended audiences for visuals and adapt visual treatments to best communicate to the target audiences
- Be able to locate graphic design and printing resources available across the tri-campus system
- Summarize resources at U of T that address copyright and considerations when working with images
