Due Diligence in IP Licensing Workshop – Jun 23, 2025

Session Description

June 23 2025 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am

In their early years, startups often engage in critical business transactions involving intellectual property (IP) licensing. These deals may include acquiring licenses from their university as licensees, or acting as licensors by licensing their own patents to other firms. This workshop will provide guidance on how to prepare for these types of transactions. It will discuss the What, When, Where, Who and How to perform due diligence depending on the deal and its importance to your organization.

Professor Alberto Galasso will host the workshop, with Sam Mercer as the featured speaker. Sam Mercer has over 25 years of global pharmaceutical development experience, previously managing external agreements and outsourcing in the areas of multinational clinical trials, IT and scientific consulting, academic alliances, and pharma licensing, and negotiating directly over USD 600 million in varied external agreements for both Roche and Novartis in Basel, Switzerland.
