The Division of the Vice-President, Research & Innovation is hosting a webinar on Horizon Europe  to promote this significant new funding program and provide specific information about its opportunities in Cluster 2 (Culture, Creativity and Inclusive Society) and Cluster 3 (Civil Security for Society) to U of T faculty interested in applying in 2025. 

Horizon Europe is the world’s largest research and innovation collaboration program, with a total budget of C$140 billion (2021-2027). The program is structured into three pillars, and Canada has recently become an associated country eligible to apply for Pillar II: “Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness”. Canadians can now participate in or create international consortia to apply for Pillar II project calls and receive grants directly from the European Commission

  • Horizon Europe Pillar II funding opportunities for projects within Clusters 2 and 3,  

  • Challenges and opportunities of participating in Horizon Europe, 

  • Best practices for consortium building, proposal writing, and dissemination, and  

  • Resources for applying to Horizon Europe 

Additional Information

Cluster 2 distributes around C$ 3.35 billion over the seven years of the framework program to awarded projects, and Cluster 3 has a budget of C$ 2.35 billion for the same period. These projects are designed “top-down” and are described in detail on the Work Programme, an official document published periodically. This session is designed to provide contextual information to interested faculty members in preparation for the publication of the 2025-2026 Work Programme, expected for Spring 2025.
