In Conversation With…Visiting Topics in EDI in Research & Innovation is a series of discussions with experts at University of Toronto on how to embed best practices and strategic EDI approaches within the research and innovation ecosystem. Each session will be hosted by Dr. Nicole Kaniki, the inaugural Director of EDI in Research and Innovation, and she will be joined by guests from across the tri-campus for these conversations.

Session 2 - In Conversation: EDI in Music Research
In this session, Dr. Nicole Kaniki and Dr. Nasim Niknafs will be discussing the importance of EDI in musical spaces and culture, the concerns and prevailing inequities in the music community, and the hopes for how EDI implementation is shaping the future of music studies and research in music. We will discuss how the increasing cultural diversity of a field that has been largely dominated by Eurocentric methodologies is becoming more inclusive of global knowledges and how this has impacted the research and education practices in the field.
