The Agenda Committee of Academic Board has approved the appointment of Professor Lisa Robinson as Dean of the Temerty Faculty of Medicine for a five-year term from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2029, after an extensive international search. The Executive Committee of Governing Council also approved her appointment as Vice-Provost, Relations with Health Care Institutions for the same term.

The Agenda Committee of Academic Board has approved the appointment of Professor Antoinette Handley as Acting Dean, Faculty of Arts and Science from July 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024, while the current Dean, Professor Melanie Woodin, is on planned administrative leave. Professor Handley currently serves as Vice-Dean, Graduate Education at the Faculty of Arts and Science.

SSHRC celebrated the winners of the 2023 Impact Awards on November 23. These annual prizes recognize outstanding research contributions in the social sciences and humanities funded partially or entirely by SSHRC. As part of the celebration, the winners were recognized during Question Period by The Honourable Greg Fergus, Speaker of the House of Commons, and with a standing ovation by Members of Parliament.

Recognizing that intentional design is an important aspect of creating accessible spaces, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act Office recently expanded its employee trainings with the course “Universal Design 101” and released a Universal Design Inclusive Employer Guide.
